This weather box is designed to help you indentify the weather and provide some emergency light in dark. It comes with a light sensor, on the one hand, it will detects the weather based the light it received, on the other hand, it will turns the light on itself when the enviroment gets too dark
How it works?
On the sides of Weather Box, there is one port on each side for button acess and wire connection. After you plug in the cable, if you hear some noise from the motor, then it is ready. You can press the button from the port on the other side to activate the Weather Box.
Once it is activated, the motor will spin to certain degree based on how much light it receives. Then you can know the current weather condition from the display port on the top of the Weather Box.
First Draft Side View
The Blue at upper left is the button to activate everything, the dark square with a stick is the motor, the white square is the sideview of a roller, the red at upper right is a resistor which coordinates with how much light it receives. Once I had this draft, I started measure the dimension of all the unit
Here is a thumbnail of all the model I created for mainly holding all the unit.
Front, Top,inside
The first draft had each part sitting in its own space which makes the whole weather box a 6 inch sub. It going to takes hours to print all the holders, and rollers I need for the weather box. On the other hand, this structur leaves to many empty space inside.
Instead of having the button on top, it is now on the board. Instead of having breadboard and the circuit playground side by side, I put the circuit playground on the board.
At first, I wanted 3d print out the box. After a few failure attempt due to "spaghetti", I noticed it is more likely to have issues when printing surface.
How hard can a box be? Instead of 3D print out the whole box, I use cricut to cut out the paper boards for the box. Only use 3D printer for the corners.
