Zenyata, The Trap, Sigma

In video game OVERWATCH, there are two character always floating in the air, Zenyata, a robot monk, and Sigma, an insane gravity scientist. There is another character who can place a obviously mechanical, triggered by step on it, trap. Do you think Zenyata and Sigma will be trapped?

designing 3D Model

Leave out the game design and development stuff, which I know it is triggered by collide, simply based how it looks like, I think the trap is not triggered by weight on it. Instead, it is triggered by detecting if there is anything floating above it. We have resistors sensitive to how much light it received, so I had the idea of making a trap and as tribute to the original Steel Trap of Junkrat from OVERWATCH.

Measring and Modeling

While trying my best to recreate the trap, I need to take a lot of stuff into consideration: the length of cable, the limits of 3d printer and capability of the motor.

designing 3D Model

Like always, the core part, where it holds motors and the resistors are 3d printed, the rest is made of card board.

Issue and Solution

Issue : Not Enough Port

Originally I want to have 1 motor on the each side of the clamp, which makes up to 4 motors needed to be connected to the board. However, I realized the port on the board is only enough for 3 motor at most. Not even mentioning I need 1 set of ports for the light sensitive resistor.

Solution : One motor for each side

Eventually, I used only one motor for each side of the clamp. The other side of the clamp is a 3d printed part.
